Framework
The SDK (Software Developing Kit) handles the front controller, template system, widget object factory and reusable objects such as date and money.
The SDK also included a comprehensive JavaScript library.
The iRes booking engine
iRes, short for Internet Reservation System, was originally developed for a wrapper to the Tourplan (see www.tourplan.com (external link)) back-end application, but soon matured into a fully featured ecommerce framework.
AOT own several well know travel sites, both as direct to public and as agent only versions, and provided branded / white label sites to third parties.
Each site consists of XHTML pages that are processed through the front controller. The pages are parsed and propriety tags are replaced with iRes widgets. An iRes widget will typically generate XHTML to be inserted.
Some highlights of iRes
- Support for both Australian and New Zealand locations
- Location hierarchy allowing drill down selection
- Property name select via AJAX
- Online credit card payment through eNett and PayPal.
- Pay later by account, credit card or Money Direct.
- Google maps that dynamically adds markers via AJAX when panned.
- Clustering of map markers
- Support for accommodation, car hire, transfers and trips.
- Support of multiple seasons, promotions, inclusions, packages.
- Support for agent specific rates and commissions.
- Saveable quote system allowing services to be added, amended, removed and booked at a later date.
Jack
Jack is an automatic booking system.
Every day a Travel Agent in Germany would login to the Jack system and upload a CSV file of bookings made in there system.
The application would parse the file and use the iRes XML API to generate AOT bookings in the Tourplan back-end.
When the process completed a report was generated showing completed bookings, bookings that had already been made during previous runs and bookings with inconsistent or missing information.
White Labels / Brands
The AOT Group was the launch partner of Holidays For Sale (www.holidaysforsale.com.au/ (external link)) a spin off from Chanel 9's travel TV show Getaway. For the first season all deals presented from the site where feed and booked through the iRes XML API.
Go Stay (www.gostay.com.au (external link)) was originally developed in conjunction with Sensis, it is now part of Big Pond Travel.

Bath.co.uk 2002 - 2006
Bath.co.uk (www.bath.co.uk (external link)) is a tourist portal for the city of Bath in England.
Bath.co.uk generated revenue from the placement of banner adverts and Single Page Entries.
This is an example of a Single Page Entries that I created, which as the name implies are single paged web sites and acts as advertising pages for shops, hotels and tourist attractions on the Bath.co.uk web site.
See the Apostrophe Single Page Entry at www.bath.co.uk/apostrophe/ (external link)
These are some examples of advert banners that I created.

When a designer logged in, he / she was presented with a grid layout off the images that they had uploaded ordered by newest first. There where buttons to delete or amend the description. At the top of the page was the option to upload a new image (including appending notes).

The review editors at Nike each had a login account that showed then a grid view of uploaded images in newest order. Clicking the thumbnail displayed the full size image, along with all the previous comments. Adding a new comment would automatically e-mail that comment to the designer that had uploaded the image.
